Restaurant Babou: Reviews & Ratings
Everything we ordered was wonderful. Make sure to add the cannoli, the frozen strawberries are perfection. Pro Tip: order on TheFork app and you can get like 30% off the meal ;)
Atmosphere is wonderful - walls I Gaudian style, mirrors, and Spanish soundtrack which is loud enough to enjoy but not laud enough to interfere with conversation. Wonderful tapas - we chose the olives stuffed with anchovies, the potatoes millefeuille which was to die for - definitely a highlight - and the stew croquettes. For main course I had the grilled Octopus, with potatoes and sausage. The octopus was melt-in-your mouth tasty. The Alboraniou wine paired beautifully. The cheese cake was real cheese, and delightful. Service by Chris originally from Peru was very good. The restaurant had few other customers, as locals are away with the hot weather, and tourists like us have yet to discover it. A hidden gem - tourists give it a try - you will not be disappointed!!
A very nice restaurant that has high end vibes all over but still feels inviting and welcoming thanks to the friendly staff. The menu has a nice variety of options, I opted for their grilled octopus and it was delicious! The perfect amount of food in the dish. Overall, a very pleasing experience and a good option for lunch or dinner (the place is very quiet during the week days and would accommodate nicely for a date night).

Nestled in the vibrant heart of Barcelona’s Eixample district, Restaurant Babou is a culinary gem that gracefully marries traditional Spanish flavors with a refined, high-end touch. From the moment you step inside, the Gaudian-inspired walls and the subtle Spanish soundtrack set an inviting atmosphere meant for savoring each bite and conversation alike.
The highlight here is undoubtedly the tapas selection. Each dish tells a story – from the rich olives stuffed with anchovies to the melt-in-your-mouth octopus paired perfectly with creamy potatoes and savory sausage. The potatoes millefeuille is a standout, a layered marvel that remains etched in my memory long after the meal. Dishes like squid churros and flavorful croquettes evoke deep emotion, a testament to the kitchen’s dedication to authentic Spanish cuisine with a modern sensibility.
Main courses impress just as much as the starters. The grilled octopus, praised repeatedly by guests, offers a tender texture and balanced seasoning that complements the carefully chosen Alboraniou wine, elevating the dining experience to one of pure delight. Meanwhile, desserts such as the traditional cannoli with frozen strawberries and the genuine cheese cake provide the perfect sweet finale, effortlessly balancing richness and freshness.
Service at Babou enhances the experience; attentive staff, including a well-received server from Peru, create a warm and welcoming environment. The restaurant maintains a relaxed yet sophisticated vibe, making it an ideal choice for intimate dinners or a quiet weekday lunch. Despite its high-end aura, the pricing remains reasonable, which, paired with occasional discounts like those available through TheFork app, adds great value.
Whether you’re a tourist discovering a hidden local treasure or a resident seeking a dependable spot for exquisite Spanish cuisine, Restaurant Babou promises an emotional and flavorful journey. It’s not just a meal; it’s an experience that resonates long after you leave—truly a must-visit in Barcelona’s dining scene.
